The Oguta Lake Clean and Green Project

The Oguta Lake Clean and Green Project

“Bringing Young People to be part of a social cause has given them that sense of belonging thereby motivating them to lead a positive and impactful lifestyle in their communities “
– Anita Ngozi Udeh (Female, Project Lead)

The Oguta Clean and Green Project team started off their intervention with a sensitization programme, creating awareness on the benefits of keeping the Oguta lake and its environs clean. As expected, they were met with hostile youth who demanded their immediate exit.

However, leveraging on the theme of the Youth Day of Service (YDoS) – Youthful and Useful and their negotiation skills, they were able to convince the erstwhile hostile youth of doing their part in community development despite neglect from the government. The OgutaTeam as a result of this got the support of the community youth in the successful execution of their project.
