Designing An E-flyer
- Create a free personal account on Canva
- Check out the flyer size by using the resize function. The most common flyer size is 8.5 x 11 in, which is the size of a standard piece of paper. Larger flyers can be 11 x 17 and smaller flyers 5.5 x 8.5.
- Browse the template library to search for a flyer template and type out your keywords e.g. “flyers.”
- Explore the different templates from your search, and choose your preferred one (Canva has thousands!) The templates are pre-set at the perfect size, so they’ll be easy to print.
- Let’s get designing! Make your flyer unique by uploading your own images. You can choose one from Canva’s image library, which allows you to select or search for an exact image.
- Add your message using text. Canva has hundreds of free fonts to choose from, so you can say it in style.
- Change the background, change the colours… express yourself! Do all of these with Canva’s colour and style palettes.
- Double-check that your image, text and all other elements are aligned. If not, move your hands around any of the elements and place it where you desire.
- If you’ve got a brand logo, upload it as an image by clicking on the “photo icon”, and add it to your flyer design.
- You could also include contact information like your website, phone number and other details such as the name, date, location and time of your project.
- Once you’re happy with your design, tap the ‘Download’ button.
- Inspire others by sharing your flyer on social media using the hashtag #YouthDayofService #Youth4SDGs and tag “@leapafrica,” on Instagram; “LEAP Africa,” on Facebook and “@LEAPAfrica” on Twitter.
