Temporary Food Assisted Program

Temporary Food Assisted Program

Theresa, a vulnerable mother living in a low-income neighbourhood in Agege, Nigeria, faced severe financial struggles as rising food prices outpaced her meagre earnings from casual labour. Her family endured constant hunger, with basic needs barely met.

During the 2024 Youth Day of Service, on August 17, 2024, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative intervened by supporting Theresa and 69 other vulnerable mothers with 879.9kg of essential food items, addressing immediate hunger.

Additionally, Theresa and 14 other women received training in poultry farming and starter kits comprising chicks, feeds, cages, medication, drinkers and Feeders. This transformative initiative empowered Theresa with the potential to solve the problem of hunger and establish multiple sustainable income streams through the possible proceeds from the poultry kits given to her.
