On the International Youth Day, August 12, 2024, Dow Chemicals Employees led by Kevin Pillay, LEAP Africa team, and youth volunteers mobilized by Clean City SA, carried out a Clean-Up exercise at Randview Shopping Centre. The project began with an educational session led by Dalu Cele (CEO, Clean City,SA), who shared insights on different types of recyclable materials.
Equipped with knowledge and determination, the volunteers walked through Randburg CBD and the taxi rank, collecting plastic waste and other litter from streets and pavements. By the end of the cleanup, they had gathered an impressive 49 bags of waste. Seven bags of recyclable material were brought back to Clean City SA’s sorting station, reinforcing the importance of proper waste disposal.
This initiative not only made the area clean but also strengthened awareness of recycling, inspiring collective action for a cleaner environment.
